Tokyo Disney Christmas Chocolate Churro Snack Review — Park Food in Souvenir Form

Tokyo Disney Resort is packed with souvenir sweets, and during seasonal events like Christmas and Halloween, an entirely new wave of event-themed designs and flavors drops onto the shelves. When something is only available for a limited window, it’s hard not to grab one!

Limited-edition sweets are tempting for sure, but there’s way less info out there compared to regular items — so I never quite know what I’m getting…

Today I’m reviewing the Christmas-only “Churro Snack (Chocolate Flavor)” — let me walk you through it!

The Churro Snack (Chocolate Flavor) is a shelf-stable souvenir version of the chocolate churros — a wildly popular Christmas-only park food. It made its debut at the 2022 Christmas event. It returned for the 2023 Christmas event and went on sale starting November 7, 2023.

I’m a huge chocolate churro fan — I get one every year — so I was thrilled when they turned it into a take-home souvenir!

Below I cover the taste, how easy it is to share, the manufacturer, and more. Read on!

Churro Snack (Chocolate Flavor): A Closer Look

(1) Playful Packaging Design

The exterior takes its design cues directly from the park’s “Chocolate Churros” served as park food — the bottom half is shaped like the paper sleeve the churros come in, and the top half is a paper box styled like a churro. The illustrated wrapper features Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. The colors and exact details differ slightly, but it’s essentially the same design as the in-park serving.

*The photos are from 2022, but the 2023 version is identical — just without the “2022” text.

Here’s a fun touch: the churro-shaped section of the box actually pulls out, like a clever little mini-puzzle. Kids could absolutely use the empty box for pretend play after the treats are gone!

Open up the churro section and you’ll see 8 individually wrapped churro snacks. “Wait — only 8?” I thought. But the box has a divider in the middle, with the other 8 stacked underneath.

The individual wrappers also mimic the park’s chocolate churro paper sleeve, almost identical in design. Half feature Mickey, the other half Minnie.

(2) Spot-On Recreation of the Park Original

Time for the actual product. Open an individual wrapper and you’ll find one churro snack with a Mickey-shaped cross-section. I measured it: about 7cm long, with a Mickey cross-section roughly 1cm across. The surface is generously coated with powdered sugar. The look — that snow-dusted churro silhouette — basically nails the park’s chocolate churro exactly!

Now for the taste test. Texture-wise, it’s a firm, snap-crunch snack — closer to a thin rice cracker than to a soft pastry. Less of a delicate “crisp” and more of a satisfying crunch. And the flavor? Genuinely surprising. It nails the park’s chocolate churro flavor — perfectly. First you get the sweetness of the sugar coating, then as you chew, the bitter cocoa notes hit through the back of your nose. It’s exactly the chocolate churro flavor I remember from the park, and it’s seriously delicious.

Wow, with this kind of accuracy you can really get that park feeling at home!

It’s also just delicious as a snack on its own — even people who’ve never tried the park’s chocolate churro will enjoy it!

(3) How It Differs From the Park Original

困っている人

OK, so the recreation is impressive. But where does it actually differ from the park version?

chako

Let me break down the differences between the park food and the souvenir version!

The biggest difference is texture. The park’s chocolate churros are actual churros — soft and chewy. The Churro Snack, true to its name, is a crunchy snack with a firm bite. If you open it expecting the same texture as a churro, the first bite is a real surprise. That said, as I mentioned, the flavor is a perfect match.

Next, the sugar coating. The park’s chocolate churro is dusted with fine, sandy sugar. The Churro Snack uses an even finer powdered sugar.

One more — this is a small detail, but the Mickey shape. At the park, some churros have a Mickey-shaped cross-section and some don’t; the chocolate churro happens to be in the “doesn’t” camp. The Churro Snack, on the other hand, does have a Mickey shape — a notable difference.

(4) Who Makes It

Now, about the manufacturer. It’s made by Sanshu Seika Co., Ltd. A quick search shows they specialize in rice crackers (senbei) and pasta snacks.
I noted earlier that the Churro Snack has a rice-cracker-like crunch — turns out it makes sense, since rice cracker production is exactly what this company is known for.

Value

16 pieces for under ¥1,100 puts the per-piece price on the lower end for Disney Resort souvenir sweets. The flavor is rich and satisfying, and even a single piece delivers a respectable amount of satisfaction — so the value lands solidly. I gave it a 4.

Easy to Share

Individually wrapped and 16 pieces per box — easy to hand out one-by-one as small gifts. The packaging is also adorable, and the design makes it immediately recognizable as a Christmas-season Disney Resort souvenir — a nice bonus.
One thing to watch out for on the recipient side: the flavor is so addictive that one piece can feel like a bit of a tease, leaving people wanting more. If you can spare the count, handing out two per person bumps up the satisfaction. And since the individual wrappers come in Mickey and Minnie designs, pairing one of each is a cute touch!

Taste

Chocolate lovers and fans of the park’s chocolate churro will absolutely love this. It’s lightly sweet up front, with bitter cocoa notes coming through afterward, so even people who don’t usually go for super sweet treats should enjoy it. The only catch: the rice-cracker-like crunch is a departure from the soft churro texture, and a few people might find that texture-flavor combo a bit odd. I landed on 4.5 to account for that.

Disney Factor

The biggest selling point: the flavor and look genuinely nail the park’s chocolate churro. I actually bought this at Bon Voyage (the off-park store) without entering the park, ate it at home, and the very first bite triggered an instant flashback to the park’s chocolate churro. The fact that you can carry that park memory home with you was an easy 5 — full marks.

So we learned:
– The packaging is adorable and playful
– The park flavor is faithfully recreated, so you get that park feel at home

Definitely picking this up on my next park visit!

If you want the full park-memory experience, try the actual chocolate churro at the park too — it’s amazing!
