Among these no-reservation items, the cake set is particularly popular. You pick one cake from several varieties and enjoy it together with a drink. In this article, I will introduce the “Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake” from this cake set lineup.

Dreamers Lounge / Overview of the Cake Set

Cake Set Overview

Menu (as of June 2025):

  • Cake
(choose one from: Shortcake / Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake / White Chocolate and Shikuwasa Mousse)
  • Coffee or Tea
(free refills of the same kind)

Price: 1,800 yen

Hours: Lunch & Sweets 11:30–17:00 / Dinner & Cocktails 17:00–21:30

When I visited, there were three kinds of cake available. Also, the cake set is limited in number per day, so if you are aiming for the cake set, I recommend going earlier in the day.

The cake lineup changes irregularly, and the menu does not list which cakes are on offer. It is a good idea to research on social media beforehand, or ask a cast member when you enter.

The price is 1,800 yen. The walk-in cake set at the Hyperion Lounge in the Ambassador Hotel is 2,500 yen, so this feels a bit more affordable by comparison. While the Ambassador Hotel’s cakes are large and filling, the cakes at Dreamers Lounge are about the size of a typical cake.

Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake — Real-Tasting Review

Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake — Design (Appearance)

From here, I will report on the “Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake” that I actually had. To start with the appearance, it looks like the quintessential chocolate cake. The roll cake stands upright, draped with chocolate and nuts, and on top sits a bird’s-nest-shaped piece of chocolate cradling apricot and a flower. The colors are different, but somehow the design reminds me of Rapunzel’s hair.

Looking at the cross-section of the roll cake… there was one good-sized piece of apricot inside. Around it was a generous amount of caramel mousse, wrapped in a cocoa sponge. The base on the bottom was lined with what looked like crushed almonds and graham crackers.

Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake — Taste

Here is how it tasted when I actually ate it. In one sentence, it was a truly delicious cake that stimulates sweetness, acidity, and bitterness in an exquisite balance!

First, the outer roll cake itself was so fluffy that I worried it might collapse when I tried to cut it with a knife. The chocolate drizzled on top is likely sweet chocolate. Firm, sweet chocolate combined with the texture and aroma of almonds adds an extra layer of sweetness to the cake.

The caramel mousse inside leans toward burnt-caramel bitterness rather than sweet milk-caramel, with restrained sweetness. This caramel mousse was incredibly rich and absolutely delicious.

And when you eat it together with the apricot inside, a gentle acidity joins in — it is so good your cheeks might melt away! As I wrote at the start, the balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness is exquisite.

The bird’s-nest-shaped chocolate on top is a lighter color than the chocolate drizzled on the roll cake and tasted slightly milkier, so I suspect it is milk chocolate (there was no detailed explanation, so this is just my guess). It has a crisp, crunchy texture and offers a different way to enjoy the cake compared with the chocolate on the roll itself.

The base on the bottom had a strong almond aroma and a crunchy texture, providing a nice accent to the soft mousse and roll cake. It was delicious.

Who Will Enjoy the Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake

Finally, as for who I would recommend this cake to: caramel and chocolate fans will of course love it, but because the caramel mousse is restrained in sweetness and the apricot adds a refreshing note, I would also recommend it to people who do not usually enjoy very sweet desserts. I think it is a cake that children will enjoy too.

Summary

How was it? This time I introduced the “Caramel and Apricot Roll Cake” from the cake set at Dreamers Lounge. Built on an exquisite balance, this cake is one I think everyone — young or old, men or women — will enjoy.

Dreamers Lounge is famously hard to book, but this menu item does not require a reservation. If you are curious, do go and try it for yourself.
