Quick Take
Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th Anniversary “Sparkling Jubilee” has brought a special seasonal treat: the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake, priced at ¥550 each. It’s a dessert with three main layers — a Hyuganatsu citrus (a Japanese citrus fruit similar to a mild grapefruit) glaze, rich rare cheesecake, and a fluffy sponge base — that’s refreshing enough to enjoy any time of day. A 25th-anniversary logo topping adds an extra festive touch, making it a great pick if you want to celebrate the milestone park anniversary with something light. It’s an easy, satisfying choice for dessert or a café-time snack.

Tokyo DisneySea, part of Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, has been celebrating its 25th Anniversary event, “Sparkling Jubilee,” since April 15, 2026, and restaurants across the park keep rolling out celebratory seasonal menus.

Among them, the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake is a summer-only treat that pairs the bright tartness of Hyuganatsu citrus (a Japanese citrus fruit, similar to a mild grapefruit) with the rich depth of rare cheesecake. On top sits a colorful 25th-anniversary logo topping, so it’s a real eye-catcher. Better yet, it’s sold at so many restaurants that you can grab one pretty much wherever you are in the park.

In this Tokyo DisneySea dessert review, we’ll walk through what the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake looks like, how it actually tastes, and when it’s worth ordering.

On top of that, photo spots are a big part of enjoying Tokyo DisneySea’s “Sparkling Jubilee.” We cover the decorations and photo spots in detail in the article below, so be sure to check that out too.

Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake on its own

The Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake is a special-menu dessert introduced for Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th Anniversary “Sparkling Jubilee.” The official description reads, “Refreshing Hyuganatsu citrus meets rare cheesecake, topped with a festive decoration.” In other words, it’s built exactly for the season when you start craving something light and citrusy.

It’s available at eight restaurants across Tokyo DisneySea, covering everywhere from Mediterranean Harbor near the entrance to Lost River Delta deep in the park. That means you can add it as a dessert at whichever restaurant you’re already eating at, so you’re free to pick a spot based on the main dish you actually want.

On top of that, it’s also set to appear at Tokyo Disneyland as part of the “Hello Hello Summer” special menu from June 11 through September 14, 2026. The topping design and souvenir contents will apparently differ from the DisneySea version, but it’s great news that Disneyland guests get to try it too!

One of the eight restaurants, Yucatan Base Camp Grill, also serves a savory rice bowl as part of the same 25th-anniversary lineup. If you want to pair a meal with your dessert, check out our review of the Spicy Beef & Seafood Salsa Rice Bowl below.

Taste, Texture & Look

Now, let’s go through the look, taste, and texture in detail.

Design & Layers

Close-up of the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake layers

From top to bottom, the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake is built in four layers: a 25th-anniversary logo topping reading “25 Sparkling Jubilee,” a Hyuganatsu citrus glaze, rare cheesecake, and a sponge base.

The topping is made from something closer to marzipan or sugar candy — not chocolate. The jubilee-blue topping really pops against the orange-toned cake, giving the whole thing a festive look at a glance.

Below that, the glossy orange gradient of the Hyuganatsu glaze looks genuinely beautiful, and it gives the whole cake a fresh, appetite-whetting impression.

What It Tastes Like

The rare cheese layer is dense and thick, with real substance to each bite. The cheese flavor is rich, delivering all the depth you’d expect from a proper rare cheesecake. It’s tasty on its own, but eating it together with the Hyuganatsu glaze on top brings out a light citrus aroma that turns the finish refreshing — perfect for the spring-to-summer season.

The sponge base at the bottom is about 1cm thick, light and fluffy in texture. It balances out the heavier rare cheese layer, and the whole dessert is designed so it never feels too heavy, even by the last bite.

Citrus desserts made with Hyuganatsu often include candied peel, but this cake skips it entirely. That means none of the bitterness or chewy texture peel can bring, making it an easy-to-eat option for kids or anyone who isn’t a fan of citrus peel.

Portion Size & How to Eat It

Between the light citrus and the rich cheesecake, the richness wins out overall, so this dessert is more filling than you might expect. It works well as a proper after-meal dessert, but the portion is also just right if you want something on its own to curb a light hunger.

It’s served in a cup and eaten with a fork, so it’s not really built for eating on the go. The best way to enjoy it is to sit down at a restaurant table and take it in slowly while taking in the park views.

Value for Money: 5.0

At ¥550 apiece, this sits at an easy-to-grab price point among Disney park snacks and sweets. That said, every element here is clearly well thought out — the substantial rare cheese, the refreshing Hyuganatsu glaze, the 25th-anniversary logo topping — so the satisfaction you get well exceeds the price. Whether you’re after a light snack or a proper dessert, it delivers, which is why we’re giving the value score a perfect 5.0.

Taste: 4.5

The rich, cheesy depth pairs with the crisp freshness of Hyuganatsu citrus, making it a great fit as the weather heats up. The fluffy sponge underneath keeps things light, and you can tell each of the three layers is pulling its weight. Cheesecake fans will especially love this one, and we’d confidently recommend it to Hyuganatsu fans too. We landed on 4.5 mainly because, personally, we’d have liked the citrus flavor pushed just a touch stronger.

Ease of Eating: 4.0

Since it’s served in a cup and eaten with a fork, it’s not made for walking-and-eating. On the other hand, that makes it ideal for sitting down at a restaurant table or a park bench and taking your time with it while soaking in the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a relaxed break, this serving style actually works in your favor.

Photogenic Factor: 3.5

On its own, the cake looks great, thanks to the soft yellow gradient of the Hyuganatsu glaze. If you want a shot with more Disney flair, though, we’d suggest ordering a drink alongside it. During “Sparkling Jubilee,” the cups come in a 25th-anniversary design, so just placing the cake and drink together instantly makes the whole photo feel more special.

Disney Factor: 3.5

The cake itself is an ingredient-driven recipe built around Hyuganatsu and rare cheese, with no Mickey shape or other character elements in the design. That said, the “25 Sparkling Jubilee” logo topping on top does a solid job tying it to the park event. We weighted this score toward how special that topping detail feels.

Final Verdict

All in all, the Hyuganatsu Rare Cheesecake strikes a solid balance between festive flair and genuine flavor — rich rare cheese, refreshing Hyuganatsu citrus, a fluffy sponge, and that 25th-anniversary logo topping all come together well. It’s a dessert rare-cheesecake fans will love, and one that kids can easily enjoy too.

Since so many restaurants carry it, you can order it wherever you’re already eating your main meal, or enjoy it while taking in your favorite area or view in the park.

It’s available at Tokyo DisneySea through September 14, 2026, and set to join Tokyo Disneyland’s “Hello Hello Summer” special menu starting June 11 — so it’s an easy treat to work into a summer visit to Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.

The same 25th-anniversary lineup also includes the one-handed Mickey Churros (Cookie & Cream), among other treats. If you want to sample more 25th-anniversary food on the go, check out our full review of the Mickey Churros (Cookie & Cream) below.
