Today’s Report

Today’s Schedule

Date: Sunday, February 29, 2020
Weather: Sunny, 17C

11:10 Arrived at Maihama Station
11:20 Arrived at Dreamers Lounge
-> Made a reservation (after 14:00)
13:35 Checked in
14:00 Seated
15:10 Left

Normally the afternoon tea set at Dreamers Lounge is by reservation only.
This day was already heavily booked far in advance, but…
Since the parks were closed, I thought, “Maybe cancellations are opening up some spots?!” — which kicked the whole thing off.

When I called ahead to ask about availability, they said, “For same-day reservations, please come in person to the restaurant to book.”

Dreamers Lounge opens at 11:30, so I arrived a little early at 11:20. There was already a small line, but I was told, “We’ll seat you after 14:00 once a table opens up,” and I lucky managed to get a reservation!

I’d been wanting to try this for ages but could never snag a reservation, so I was thrilled!

Very Very Minnie! Afternoon Tea Set Report

Finally, the long-awaited afternoon tea set!
The price was 4,500 yen. Here’s the menu…

Very Very Minnie afternoon tea menu

The classic tiered tea stand that every girl dreams of — from bottom to top, “sandwiches & hors d’oeuvres,” “scones,” and “dessert.”
And then a second dessert plate comes out at the end. That’s the Dreamers Lounge afternoon tea set!

Let me walk you through the whole thing!

Drinks

For drinks you can choose from coffee, tea, or the Premium Tea Selection’s Strawberry Fields — with unlimited refills!

Drink menu

This time I went with Strawberry Fields. The premium tea flavor changes every menu, so unless you can’t stand a particular flavor, I’d recommend it for the seasonal touch!

Premium tea always comes in what’s called a “Sleeping Pot” — and it’s so stylish!

The Sleeping Pot has two compartments inside (tea leaves and hot water), and you change its position to use it.
– Horizontal: leaves soaking in water, brewing
– Tilted: draining the water
– Upright: leaves and water separated

The tilted position looks like something straight out of Alice’s world — so stylish that I just leave it tilted after brewing (lol).

Sandwiches & Hors d’oeuvres

Sandwiches and hors d'oeuvres
<Menu>
  • Cauliflower cream soup
  • Marinated smoked salmon and root vegetables
  • Beet mousse with orange flavor
  • Spicy shrimp and cranberry pintxos
  • Rhubarb quiche
  • Beef pastrami and chili con carne tortilla roll

True to the Very Very Minnie! theme, everything is dressed in reds and pinks!
The marinated smoked salmon and root vegetables even has Minnie’s signature ribbon on top!

Every dish was excellent, but my top pick was… the “Beet Mousse with Orange Flavor”!
This one was incredibly good!

“Mousse” sounds like a dessert, but as an hors d’oeuvre it isn’t sweet at all — instead it’s a refreshing orange-flavored taste that’s quietly addictive!

One spoonful definitely isn’t enough — I just wanted more (lol).

Scones

Scones

The scones always include a plain flavor plus one that ties into the current season or event.
This time it was the “Raspberry Scone”.

And it gets even better — they’re shaped like Minnie’s ribbon!
The polka dots are even reproduced — so cute!

The raspberry aroma is subtle, and there were what I think were walnuts inside!

Dessert 1 (Tea Stand)

Tea stand desserts
<Menu>
  • Madeleine
  • Yogurt panna cotta with blueberry sauce

The madeleine was half-coated in white chocolate — sweet and delicious!
Meanwhile the yogurt panna cotta was balanced out by the refreshing blueberry sauce — the whole plate was well-balanced overall.

Dessert 2 (Plate)

Once you’ve finished what’s on the tea stand, the dessert plate finally arrives at the end.

Dessert plate
<Menu>
  • Strawberry sorbet
  • Chocolate and blackberry macaron
  • Vanilla mousse charlotte

A figure of Minnie dressed in her Very Very Minnie! outfit stands on the plate, and the illustrations and patterns painted on the plate are too cute!

The whole plate is like a canvas — it almost feels wrong to eat it!

The charlotte is vanilla-flavored so it’s quite sweet, but with the refreshing fruit and sorbet around it, the combination is just incredible!

“Very Very Minnie!” original card

And finally…
As a perk for ordering this menu, you get a “Very Very Minnie” card!

The original card is a perk for guests who order the eligible menu items at participating Disney hotel restaurants!

*Cards were limited in number and distribution has already ended.

Overall Impressions

So what did you think?
In one phrase, this Very Very Minnie set was “just unbelievably cute and delicious!”

As the event name suggests, berries are the star of the set!
Berries are also in season this time of year, so everything tasted especially good!

Plus there are little touches of Minnie’s ribbon scattered throughout, and the color scheme leans heavily on reds and pinks — there’s plenty for the eyes to enjoy too.

As for portion size, it’s about right for a typical female appetite.
I initially thought, “this looks like a lot…” but with sweet and savory items balancing each other, I polished it off without even realizing it!
That said, it’s plenty filling, so come hungry!

Sadly, the “Very Very Minnie!” event was set to end during the park closure…

But rumor has it that since the “Welcome to New Dream” set scheduled for March 20 has been postponed, the Very Very Minnie! menu might get extended!
(*It’s just a rumor, so if you’re curious, please reach out to the restaurant directly.)

There may still be a chance to try it, so give it a shot if you can!
