Comparison of all Roll Cookie products

Both the 8-piece plain and hazelnut versions come in matching tins of the same shape — just with different designs. The plain flavor features “Beauty and the Beast,” while the hazelnut flavor comes in a “Tangled” design. The 16-piece plain version, on the other hand, has a square “Mickey & Friends” tin.

Each cookie is individually wrapped, which makes them easy to share as gifts. On top of that, inside the tin there’s a tray that holds the cookies in place — so they’re less likely to break during travel, which is a nice touch.

A Closer Look at Roll Cookies

For this review, we’ll focus on the 8-piece versions: the “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tangled” designs. Note that the 16-piece Mickey & Friends tin contains the same plain-flavor cookies as the Beauty and the Beast version.

Tins Worth Keeping Long After the Cookies Are Gone

One of the biggest appeals of these Roll Cookies is the incredibly detailed tin design. Souvenir snacks at Disney Resort come in all kinds of tins, but these ones stand out even in that crowd. What makes them special isn’t just the cute illustrations — it’s the way each tin uses raised embossing and color to bring the design to life.

The Beauty and the Beast tin has a rich gold base. The center features Belle and the Beast dancing together, framed by stained glass-style roses — truly stunning. The embossed roses around the edges give it the feel of a high-end jewelry box. Even the sides are detailed: each panel features embossed roses throughout, with character illustrations at the center — roses, Lumière, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts with Chip.

The Tangled tin goes for Rapunzel’s signature purple as its base color. The center shows Rapunzel gazing out at the lantern festival from her tower, surrounded by embossed flowers, butterflies, and birds — all painted in color, unlike the Beauty and the Beast tin where the embossed details stay gold. The sides feature scenes of Rapunzel and Flynn (Eugene) in a boat, plus silhouettes, lanterns, and more floral details. The overall design has a dreamy, fairy-tale feel that’s hard to put down.

Both tins are designed to be admired from every angle — they’re basically collectibles in their own right. Once you’ve finished the cookies, these tins make perfect little storage boxes. Some people even repurpose them as jewelry holders.
Better yet, the lids are designed with a slight indent so the two tins stack neatly on top of each other without sliding. Smart and stylish at the same time.

Rich, Buttery Flavor You’ll Want Again and Again

Roll Cookies are langues de chat cookies rolled into a tube shape. Looking at the ingredients, butter is listed first in the plain flavor — a sure sign it’s used generously. And you can taste it: the moment it hits your tongue, a rich, warm buttery flavor fills your mouth. It genuinely feels luxurious.

In the hazelnut version, butter drops to fourth on the ingredients list, making it a bit more restrained. What sets it apart is the addition of hazelnuts and hazelnut paste. The hazelnut flavor comes through clearly — nutty, slightly bitter, and deeply satisfying.
Both versions are lightly sweet with a crisp, delicate texture. One bite and you’ll be hooked. At ¥1,000 for 8 pieces, doing a side-by-side taste test is absolutely worth it.

Who Makes These? And Can You Find Them Outside the Park?

Made by Yoku Moku Rare

Roll Cookies are manufactured by Yoku Moku Rare Co., Ltd., a group company of the well-known Yoku Moku brand. Yoku Moku is one of Japan’s most beloved confectionery makers, famous for its Cigare — a classic rolled butter cookie that’s become a household name. Their lineup leans heavily on langues de chat, which makes sense given how expertly these Roll Cookies are crafted.

Can You Buy the Same Cookie Outside the Park?

Here’s a fun fact: the plain Roll Cookie is essentially the same as Yoku Moku’s Cigare, which means you can actually buy it outside the park. The hazelnut flavor, however, is an exclusive Tokyo Disney Resort original — you won’t find it anywhere else.
Outside the park, Yoku Moku’s Cigare assortment tins work out to about ¥86 per cookie. At the park, Roll Cookies run ¥112–125 per piece, so you’re paying a slight premium — but that’s partly for the exclusive tin design.

Value for Money

Roll Cookies are individually wrapped and just the right size for gifting. Price-wise, ¥112–125 per cookie is a little higher than Yoku Moku’s standard Cigare (about ¥86 each). That said, these tins are Tokyo Disney Resort exclusives with incredibly detailed designs — and once you factor in that collectible tin, the value feels more than justified.

Taste

The taste is Yoku Moku-level quality — in other words, it’s a sure thing. The rich butter aroma of the plain flavor and the warm, toasty hazelnut of the other version are both deeply satisfying. No surprises, all goodness. Full marks.

Ease of Sharing

Individually wrapped and easy to hand out one by one — perfect for bringing to the office, passing around with friends, or giving to family. On top of that, the two-size lineup (8 or 16 pieces) makes it easy to pick the right amount. That flexibility earns it a perfect score.

Disney Factor

The Tokyo Disney Resort-exclusive tins are exquisitely detailed and genuinely beautiful. However, they don’t feature iconic park landmarks like Cinderella Castle or Mount Prometheus — so if you’re looking for something that screams “I was at the park,” these tins feel more like a luxury gift than a classic park souvenir. That’s the only reason it doesn’t get a 5.

Who Should Buy This?

  • Fans of Beauty and the Beast or Tangled
  • Anyone who wants to reuse the tin after finishing the cookies
  • Those who want a souvenir snack with guaranteed quality
  • Anyone looking for an easy-to-share gift for coworkers or friends
  • Anyone looking for a treat to buy for themselves

Final Verdict

Tokyo Disney Resort’s Roll Cookies are a standout souvenir — beautiful tins and genuinely delicious cookies all in one. Whether you’re drawn in by the rich butter flavor or the toasty hazelnut, both versions deliver that special Disney touch that makes the experience feel extra memorable. Next time you visit Tokyo Disney Resort, these are definitely worth picking up.

Fun Fact: Why Is the Tangled Cookie Hazelnut Flavor?

As we mentioned, the two 8-piece Roll Cookies have different flavors — plain and hazelnut. The plain one makes sense, but why hazelnut? It actually comes down to the Tangled design on the tin.

If you listen closely to the movie, there’s a scene where Rapunzel mentions that her favorite food is hazelnut soup. That’s the inspiration behind the hazelnut flavor — it’s a nod to her love of all things hazelnut!

It’s such a charming detail, isn’t it? This isn’t just a snack — it’s a little piece of the story you can actually taste. Next time you open that Tangled tin, take a moment to think back on the film while you enjoy it.
