Hyperion Lounge at the Disney Ambassador Hotel is a restaurant where you can enjoy drinks like coffee and tea along with cake. The seasonal and event-tied “Limited-Time Cake Set” and “Special Sweets Set” tend to get all the attention, but in fact the regular menu also offers a “Cake Set” and a “Special Cake Set.”
The limited-time menu items fall under Priority Seating and basically require a reservation, but the regular menu is walk-in, so anyone can enjoy it! This time I will give a real-tasting review of the “Milk Chocolate and Walnut Cake” from the regular Special Cake Set lineup.

The Milk Chocolate and Walnut Cake features a base illustrated with film strips, topped with Mickey dressed as a film director holding a camera and megaphone. In fact, this design is modeled on the golden statue of Mickey and Pluto displayed in the lobby of the Disney Ambassador Hotel. Because it is a cake design you can only enjoy at Hyperion Lounge inside the Ambassador Hotel, it feels truly special.

Milk Chocolate and Walnut Cake — In Detail
The base of the cake is a cookie mixed with walnuts. Layered on top of it are milk chocolate mousse, caramel mousse, vanilla mousse, and a hazelnut dacquoise. White chocolate with film illustrations is wrapped around the front half. Mickey and the camera are made of sugar confectionery.
Look closely and you will notice a pattern on the top of the cake. After I finished eating, I went to check the statue displayed in the lobby, and the same pattern was indeed there. I was impressed by how faithfully it was recreated.
The cross-section looks like this. From top to bottom, I could see vanilla mousse, hazelnut dacquoise, caramel mousse, hazelnut dacquoise, milk chocolate mousse, and walnut cookie. The milk chocolate mousse looks like it might be in two layers.
The walnut cookie that forms the base was crushed into something like a crunch. After eating it I realized that it did not look like a round cookie disc that had been broken up, but rather like a thin crêpe-style cookie that had been crushed.
Real-Tasting Review
From here is my real-tasting review! Starting with the mousses: the layered vanilla, caramel, and milk chocolate mousses were beautifully balanced. To be specific, the vanilla mousse is refreshing, the caramel mousse is bitter, and the milk chocolate mousse provides the sweetness — they harmonize well, and the result is a clean, not-too-sweet flavor that is very easy to eat.
The cookie at the bottom is crushed, which makes it easy to eat together with the mousse. I thought I caught a faint chocolate flavor, so it may be coated in chocolate. The closest impression I can give is chocolate-coated cornflakes. The crunchy texture contrasts with the mousse, so I never got tired of eating it.
I did not detect any alcohol or orange-peel flavoring, so it is a cake that even small children can enjoy. In fact, my three-year-old polished off about half of it while saying “so good, so good”!
This cake is quite large — I measured it with an iPhone measuring app and the diameter was about 9 cm. It is very filling. Even people who do not love sweets, or children, will be plenty satisfied sharing one.
How to Get to Eat This Cake
As I mentioned earlier, the Milk Chocolate and Walnut Cake introduced here is part of the regular menu and does not require a reservation. To eat it, you need to go directly to Hyperion Lounge at the Disney Ambassador Hotel, but there is one key tip: go as early in the day as possible.

Watch out for these two points!
Basically, Hyperion Lounge prioritizes its Priority Seating menu items. Even if seats look open, they are usually being held for reservations, and walk-in guests are seated in the gaps between reservations — so long waits can happen. On top of that, the daily quantity is limited, so once it sells out you cannot order it. Guests with reservations may also order the cake set, so I recommend going as early as possible.
If the cake set is sold out, the only regular-menu options are drinks, so it is a good idea to ask whether the cake set is still available when you check in.
