Dreamer’s Lounge at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel in Japan is known for its Afternoon Tea Set — and from February 1, 2025, they served a special edition themed around Disney Pal-Palooza “Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World.”
We headed over to try it: loaded with strawberries, ridiculously cute, and absolutely delicious. Here’s the full review of the “Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World” Afternoon Tea Set.
“Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World” Afternoon Tea Set — Quick Overview
This round of the Afternoon Tea was themed around Vanellope as the lead, in tie-in with the event. The star ingredient was strawberry — used in almost every item. After years of trying Dreamer’s Lounge’s afternoon tea sets, I think this was the first one I’ve had that focused so completely on a single ingredient. A dream pick for strawberry lovers.
Note: this set was a Priority Seating menu, so reservations through the official booking site were required.

From here on, I’ll walk through each item.
Sandwiches & Hors d’oeuvres
Strawberry Gazpacho
First up is the soup: Strawberry Gazpacho. Gazpacho is a Spanish cold soup made with tomato, onion, and other vegetables, dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Here, a beautiful pink soup is topped with diced strawberry.
Taking a spoonful: the tomato and onion flavors come through clearly — it reads as a proper gazpacho — with a soft sweet-tart strawberry note layered on top. The diced strawberry makes a great textural accent. Bright with tomato and vinegar tartness — really refreshing and delicious.

Pork Rillette with Cumberland Sauce
Pork rillette is a traditional French pork-paste preparation, and Cumberland sauce is a fruit-based sauce with a signature sweet-tart profile. Here it’s served on a bite-sized piece of bread, topped with Cumberland sauce gelée and the pork rillette.
The crisp, rusk-like bread pairs perfectly with the rich, savory pork rillette. Worth noting: if you’re not into stronger pork flavors, proceed with caution. The gelée in the middle has a soft tartness that makes it easy to eat.

Colorful Vegetable Bagna Cauda
A cute small glass loaded with colorful vegetables — bagna cauda style. Six different vegetables in total: carrot, lettuce, cucumber, strawberry, purple turnip, and one I couldn’t quite identify. The bagna cauda sauce tastes mayonnaise-like, with the garlic dialed back. Easy to eat overall with a refreshing flavor. The saltiness of the bagna cauda sauce is excellent — it works wonders as a palate-cleansing bite between the sweeter items.

Tochiotome & Mixed Berry Fruit Sandwich
Fluffy bread sandwiches Tochiotome strawberries with cream. The cream is likely a blend of fresh cream and custard cream, with a soft lemon note layered in — it’s not too sweet, fitting the hors d’oeuvre slot perfectly. The “mixed berry” in the name wasn’t visible, but the sweet-tart strawberry plus cream balance is excellent and really tasty. Light enough that it disappeared in a few bites.

Beni Hoppe & Mascarpone Tartelette
The all-pink design is super cute. The tart shell holds mascarpone cheese and berry sauce. The shell is moist but still has a crisp bite. The mascarpone is genuinely rich — a treat for cheese lovers — and the berry sauce tartness on top makes for an excellent pairing.

Sweet Shrimp & Endive Marinade with Strawberry Gelée
Endive is a leafy vegetable used widely in French cuisine, known for its crisp texture. Here, endive and sweet shrimp (ama-ebi) are finely chopped, with strawberry-vinegar gelée at the base. The gelée’s tartness and the shrimp’s natural sweetness balance into a refreshing hors d’oeuvre. The gelée is quite tart, so if you don’t love sour flavors, take it in small bites paired with the other elements.

Strawberry Mousse with Granola Topping
A two-layered dessert of mousse and berry sauce, topped generously with granola. The mousse is soft and silky — almost like strawberry yogurt. As the name suggests, the granola adds a great crunchy contrast — really tasty. Dialed-back sweetness, so it reads more like an hors d’oeuvre than a dessert. The kind of thing you’d want for breakfast every day.

Scones

Strawberry Scone (Left in Photo)
A Mickey-shaped pink scone — the design alone is super cute. The top is glazed with chocolate, which is clearly sweet and pairs really well with the scone. Lemon jam and clotted cream come on the side. Personally, I loved the lemon jam pairing — it was my favorite combo. The scone itself is moist and dense, so a single one is genuinely filling.
Strawberry Danish (Right in Photo)
A cylindrical Danish stuffed with custard cream and plenty of strawberries. The amount of strawberry packed in relative to the Danish size makes it feel decadent. The Danish itself is crisp and toasty, pairing beautifully with the cream and strawberries — really tasty.
Desserts
White Strawberry Macaron
This one was plated on the hors d’oeuvre or scones plate rather than the dessert plate. A pink macaron topped with a white strawberry. The macaron itself is quite sweet, but eaten together with the strawberry on top, the sweet and tart balance harmonizes beautifully. Visually stunning and fun to eat. The sweetest item in this afternoon tea lineup.

Strawberry Ice Cream with Rhubarb Confiture (Center-Back in Photo)
Rhubarb is a vegetable with a tart red stalk, often used in desserts and jams. The overall flavor is refreshing with dialed-back sweetness — easy to eat. By the time the dessert plate arrives, I’m usually full, but this refreshing ice cream goes down easily even after a big meal — a great way to enjoy the lingering finish.
Amaou Jelly with Strawberry Compote (Front-Left in Photo)
An adorable strawberry-shaped jelly with a whole strawberry compote tucked inside. The jelly itself has a soft strawberry note with dialed-back tartness and sweetness — the compote inside lets the strawberry flavor really come through. Balsamic vinegar and olive oil are served alongside the jelly, and surprisingly, drizzling them on adds tartness that makes the whole thing even more delicious.
Sky Berry & Kiwi Lemon Pie (Front-Right in Photo)
A lemon pie topped with cream, strawberry, and kiwi. The lemon pie leans more sweet than tart, with a soft cinnamon note — really tasty. The whipped cream on top felt slightly heavy on an already-full stomach, but eaten together with the pie and fruit, the balance works and it lands well.

Final Thoughts
So that was the strawberry-focused afternoon tea set — heaven for strawberry lovers. Lots of items leaned tart and refreshing, so it stayed easy to eat even when I was full. The color palette and overall design were super cute too. If you got a chance during the run, it was absolutely worth trying.
