From January 15 to March 16, 2025, Tokyo Disneyland hosted Disney Palpalooza: Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World.

This was the third installment in the Disney Palpalooza series, following “Minnie’s Funderland” in January 2024 and “Donald’s Quacky Duck City” in April 2024. This time, the star of the show is Vanellope from the film Wreck-It Ralph.

I visited the park to check it out firsthand — and it was an incredibly cute and fun event. Here’s everything I loved about it!

Disney Palpalooza “Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World” — Event Overview

Event Overview

Event Dates: January 15 (Wed) – March 16 (Sun), 2025

Star of the Event: Vanellope (from Wreck-It Ralph)

Things to Enjoy at the Event:
① Limited-time parade: “It’s a Sweetful Time!”
② Park decorations
③ Event special merchandise
④ Event special food & drinks
⑤ Candy handouts from cast members
⑥ Photographer sessions
⑦ Vacation Package hotel plan
⑧ Disney Ambassador Hotel special room
⑨ Disney Resort Line free pass

The top highlights are ① the limited-time parade “It’s a Sweetful Time!” and ② the park decorations. On top of that, ③ the event merchandise is full of items that make the whole experience even more fun.

In this post, I’ll focus on the things I personally tried: ① the parade, ② decorations, ③ special merchandise, ④ special food, and ⑤ the candy handouts from cast members.

Who Is Vanellope?

Wreck-It Ralph is a film set inside the digital world of arcade games. Vanellope is a spirited, mischievous girl who stars in Sugar Rush — a candy-themed racing game within that world.

In line with Sugar Rush’s candy-filled world, the event’s decorations are packed with sweets and sweet-inspired designs throughout the park.

Why Is Vanellope the Star This Year?

Disney Palpalooza previously starred Minnie in the first installment and Donald in the second. Many fans expected the third to feature another Mickey & Friends character — so when Vanellope was announced, quite a few people were caught off guard!

As it turns out, Tokyo Disneyland has announced that a new Sugar Rush-themed attraction is coming to Tomorrowland in 2026 or later. This event seems to be laying the groundwork by introducing Vanellope to a wider audience ahead of that opening.

The Limited-Time Parade “It’s a Sweetful Time!” — Dancing Along with the Characters

The biggest highlight of the event is the limited-time parade “It’s a Sweetful Time!” According to the official website, the parade’s concept is “a colorful candy resort that Vanellope dreamed up.”

The parade features 6 floats and a wide lineup of characters including Mickey & Friends. At 3 points along the route, the floats stop and everyone participates in a fun hand choreography session!

Characters in “It’s a Sweetful Time!”
  • Vanellope
  • Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Belle
  • (Float: Mad Hatter), Alice, and Cheshire Cat
  • Mickey, Clarice, Donald, Chip, Dale, and Goofy
  • Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet
  • Minnie, Pluto, and Daisy

Overall, the floats were absolutely adorable, and the hand choreography during the stops was genuinely so much fun! Vanellope’s float is modeled after a candy castle and is impressively large. The other floats are a bit shorter by comparison, but that actually means the characters feel closer and more personal.

Before the parade starts, cast members teach you the choreography ahead of time. The moves are simple, but there’s quite a lot to remember — once the music kicked in, though, it was a total blast! If you usually just catch a passing glimpse of the parade, I’d really encourage you to stick around for the stops. That’s where the real magic happens.

Should You Buy Disney Premier Access (DPA)?

“It’s a Sweetful Time!” is eligible for Disney Premier Access (DPA). DPA viewing spots are available at Castle Forecourt (near Cinderella Castle) and in front of Maurice’s Cottage in Fantasyland. I purchased a DPA spot at Castle Forecourt.

My assigned DPA spot was A-5-12 — row 5, seat 12 in zone A (see photo). That put me roughly in the middle of the DPA section, positioned between Mickey’s float and Pooh’s float.

Since I visited in January during the quieter off-peak season, fairly decent spots were still available close to parade time — which did make me second-guess whether the DPA was worth it. That said, I was there with my kid, so being able to relax until the last minute without stressing over spots was a real plus!

Depending on crowd levels, you might be able to skip DPA on slower days. However, spots directly in front of the float stops tend to fill up early, and Mickey’s stop in particular is always in high demand — front rows disappear fast. DPA really helps you make the most of your time. If you’re visiting in February or March — when Chinese New Year and spring break crowds arrive — I’d definitely recommend buying DPA to lock in a great view.

Park Decorations — Photo Spots Not to Miss

Another major highlight is the park’s event decorations. With sweets as the theme, candy-inspired decor appears all over the park. The designs are pop, colorful, and incredibly photogenic — perfect for photos!

World Bazaar Decorations

At the center of World Bazaar stands the event’s signature monument: a large display featuring Vanellope alongside a giant parfait. This is the only spot in the park with a Vanellope monument, so make sure to get a photo! Personally, I thought this Vanellope looked especially adorable. There’s also a Disney Palpalooza logo on the back of the monument, so it’s worth snapping shots from both the front and the back.

What’s more, if you look up as you walk through, you’ll notice the hanging flower decorations along the street have been swapped out for cupcake designs — a subtle but delightful touch. Keep an eye out for those little details!

Decorations Near Cinderella Castle

In front of Cinderella Castle, there’s a Mickey & Friends monument display. At the center, Chip and Dale stand alongside a cookie sign spelling out “welcome.” Around the flower bed, each character has a lollipop designed to match their look — and these are absolutely adorable. Don’t miss them!

To the left of Cinderella Castle (as you face it), there’s a monument featuring icing cookies of Donald, Chip, Dale, and Clarice. To the right, you’ll find Minnie, Pluto, Mickey, and Goofy. Between Minnie and Pluto, a sign reads “Sweets Garden Party” — as if a sweet garden party is in full swing right there on the plaza!

Event Special Merchandise — Level Up Your Sweets Experience!

Every Disney Palpalooza event comes with its own special merchandise, and Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World is no exception. This time around, the lineup includes event artwork pieces and plenty of candy-themed goodies.

These items are designed to be worn around the park for photos or waved during the parade to catch characters’ attention. Here are a few of my favorites!

① Sweets Poppin’ Stick

This lollipop-inspired stick accessory has beads and charms inside the candy section — give it a shake and it rattles. It’s super photogenic and doubles as a great parade prop for catching characters’ attention. You can also customize it by tying a ribbon at the base of the candy, and plenty of guests were doing exactly that!

These sticks were sold all around the park, and it seemed like nearly everyone had one. Easy to see why — it’s the perfect event companion.

② Event Headband

Two headband designs were available for this event, and both were incredibly popular. There’s a black-based version and a pink-based version — and the black one was by far more commonly spotted. It features candy-themed details, a touch of Vanellope’s signature mint green, and a heart-shaped cookie that fans of the movie will instantly recognize. For Wreck-It Ralph fans, that last detail is irresistible!

③ Event Candy

This is a souvenir candy packaged in an adorable ice cream-shaped container. The container itself is so cute that you’ll want to use it as a photo prop around the park, and after the trip it works great as a small storage box at home. A solid pick for practical souvenir shoppers!

④ Vanellope Plush

Vanellope herself appears as a large plush for this event. In person, she’s incredibly charming — with that slightly cheeky expression that makes her so lovable. At ¥5,500 she’s on the pricier side, which may give you pause. That said, a Vanellope plush of this size is truly rare to come by, making her a one-of-a-kind collectible!

Event Special Food — Dive Into the World of Sweets!

The special food menu is another key part of the event experience. True to its name — Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World — the lineup is full of colorful, pop-style treats. Here’s what I actually tried!

① Strawberry Mousse

A layered cup dessert with multiple levels of flavor. From top to bottom: chocolate spray, chocolate sauce, strawberry whipped cream, sponge cake, strawberry sauce (with chocolate chips), and strawberry mousse. The standout element is the texture — the strawberry sauce in the middle is packed with chocolate chips, giving you a mix of textures alongside the silky smooth mousse. The sweet-tart combo of strawberry and chocolate was absolutely delicious.

Price: ¥550 for the dessert alone, or add a souvenir cup for an extra ¥650.

② Raspberry Whipped Cream Sandwich

A soft pink cake filled with raspberry whipped cream. The cake has a moist, tender texture. It’s described as cheese-flavored, though I couldn’t really detect it. Inside, there’s raspberry jam and marshmallow alongside the whipped cream. I expected it to taste similar to the Strawberry Mousse, but the raspberry came through much more distinctly — it had a bright, punchy flavor all its own.

③ Afternoon Tea Set at Dreamers Lounge, Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

The event menu also extends into the Disney hotel restaurants. Dreamers Lounge at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel serves an afternoon tea set themed around the event — and the best part is, you don’t need a park ticket to enjoy it. A great option for a more relaxed taste of the Vanellope world!

For all the details on the afternoon tea set, check out my dedicated post linked below.

Final Verdict

All in all, Disney Palpalooza “Vanellope’s Sweets Pop World” was a wonderfully sweet event — both literally and figuratively. Each installment of this seasonal series consistently delivers not just great entertainment like parades, but also stunning decorations and plenty of content to keep your camera busy. If you’re curious, I’d really encourage you to head to the park and experience it for yourself!
