At Hyperion Lounge in the Disney Ambassador Hotel, a “Limited-Time Cake Set” is offered to match each season and event.

From April 1 to June 30, 2025, a limited-time cake set was offered to tie in with the event currently held at Tokyo Disneyland, Disney Pal-Palooza “Donald’s Quacky Duck! Duck! Duck City!”

The limited-time cake set is split into a first and second half — this article covers the first-half cake set in detail. Like the second half, it had a wonderfully Donald-like design and was a delicious cake set.

I’ve also reported on the Premium Sweets Set offered at Hyperion Lounge for the same limited period, so if you’re curious, please check it out.

This time’s limited cake set is themed around the event currently held at Tokyo Disneyland, Disney Pal-Palooza “Donald’s Quacky Duck! Duck! Duck City!”, with a Donald design.

Because this cake set is a Priority Seating (reservation) item, you’ll need to book through the online reservation/purchase site.

The cake is shaped like a book, designed as if Donald has burst out of a comic. Some of the event merchandise is also designed in a comic style, so I imagine that was the inspiration.

From here, let me walk through the cake in more detail.

The base of the cake is a buttered sablé, topped with a baked cheesecake, and then mascarpone mousse on top of that. Donald and the lettering are made of sugar candy and are edible.

From the back you can see that the book is propped up at an angle by a marshmallow. The design features two colors of marshmallow twisted together — every detail has been carefully thought through. Looking at the cross-section, the baked cheesecake is sheet-shaped, with a generous layer of mascarpone mousse on top. There was nothing else hidden inside.

And behind the book is an apricot confiture — drizzling it onto the cake partway through lets you enjoy a shift in flavors. The confiture contained strawberry, blueberry, kiwi, redcurrant, and orange.

Tasting Notes

Now for my impressions after actually trying it. First, the main mascarpone mousse — being mascarpone, the mousse leaned more toward fresh-cream than cheese in character. It’s quite soft and very smooth, melting in the mouth — really delicious.

As for the baked cheesecake layer, unlike the mascarpone mousse this part is rich, with a clear cheese flavor. Being a baked cheesecake, it has a reasonable firmness, so eating it together with the mascarpone mousse lets you enjoy the contrast in textures.

Both the mascarpone mousse and the baked cheesecake have their sweetness dialed back, so it really comes down to enjoying the flavors of the ingredients themselves. Very easy to eat — even those who don’t enjoy overly sweet things should find this delicious.

Next, the butter sablé at the bottom. Because it’s been baked with butter brushed on, the surface is slightly moist but you still get a crisp snap when you bite in — a sablé that’s wonderful on its own. It pairs beautifully with the mascarpone mousse and baked cheesecake above, and eating them together was excellent. By the way, when the marshmallow is underneath and the cake is sitting at an angle, it’s hard to cut through the cheesecake and sablé together, so it’s a bit awkward to eat. Removing the marshmallow first and laying the cake flat made it much easier to cut cleanly.

Finally, the apricot confiture served on the side. It’s light on sweetness with a nice tartness, so it’s tasty enough to enjoy on its own by the spoonful. Drizzled onto the cake, the tartness combines with the richness of the baked cheesecake and the creaminess of the mascarpone mousse for something really delicious. It’s exactly the kind of “shift in flavor” experience that makes the dish — the cake itself is large, but it disappeared in no time.

Wrap-Up

What did you think? In this article I introduced the Disney Pal-Palooza “Donald’s Quacky Duck! Duck! Duck City!” Cake Set served at Hyperion Lounge in the Disney Ambassador Hotel. The look is adorable and the flavor is genuinely delicious. Because the sweetness is dialed back, it’s a piece I’d recommend to just about anyone. If you’re curious, by all means head over and give it a try.
